Have not heard of to many bears taken up here in my area either. I am going to keep going until about mid week next week, I think. Time to get projects around the house done. I want to be able to ice fish early ice this year instead of watching the nieghbors heading out. Only 5 weekends left until Firearms deer season.

We've got 10 baits hitting but they are rather sporatic...we usually have about half of them re-hit each time we check but there are only two of them that have any consitancy...we've set up and hunted twice only to find out the next time we checked that we picked the wrong baits...bears were in at shootable times on some of the other baits when we were set up elsewhere!! But we got 17 days left, so there's plenty of time...Hopefully we'll make the right call this weekend!

I didn't sit a single day this year. I had buddies on our baits two weekends and they were dry weekends. Most other times we've had baits getting smoked, and 2 are still getting hit as of this afternoon. I'll be up this weekend, but probably won't hunt. 1 for 6 this year, not very darn good!

Yea, I'm very fortunate in no qouta to have baged one, seema to be a tough year, cant wait to see the harvest rates. How noctunal Odonata? Maybe a good bacon burn can turn him, maybe cutting back on the feed so he hungers up anthen do a burn, just an Idea. So far my beaver hide an castors have done zilch, gonna go in tomorrow an check an if nothing, Im gonna do heavy burn with honey, I'm gonna sit wth a camp stove an quart of honey, burn it till it pplumes with white sticky smoke for hour or so. An see if that catches a passerby. Boar

Reset today, burn and sit the site tomorrow. Crunch time! Boar, bear has been in between 11 pm and 3 am. Did a smokin honey burn earlier this week, nada.

Sitting another site tomorrow. Still humping buckets.

Now is the time to catch the wanderers. You can't hold them without massive amounts of food, especially meat. The big guys are hungry and they need protein. They wander around building up all the fat they can before they hit the sack for the Winter.

Hang in there guys. The best bear I took was the last week of the season. The quailiy of the cape was far superior to any bear I have seen in the early part of the season. It is much tougher as the season goes on but the rewards are worth it.

My cousin and I are still hunting. I passed on three bears earlier and now those 3 are looking pretty big now! I hunted Fri, Sat, and Sun night this weekend and didn't see a thing! The bears are really not hanging around anymore! No rhyme or reason when they come in. We are now seeing less bears. BUT we have now seen the biggest bear yet this week on a trail camera. This is my first year hunting bear and its becoming frustrating!
