200 opti max issue

Just came off the lake, while idling up to put it on the trailer, the warning light that looks like a broken bobber came on. I have a 1998 Merc Opti Max 200 with smartcraft gauges. I don't have the manual for this anymore and this is the first issue I've had with this motor. I can't remember what that warning light means, any help would be geat. The fishing wasn't worth a hoot either. Thanks Tim

This could be a lot of different things. Best thing to do is take it to your dealer or call a mechanic.

Or, Google "1998 Mercury Optimax 200 Manual" find the appropriate site, pay $3.99, download the manual, find the appropriate section, assess what the light may mean, and see if you should bring it in at shop labor rates or if it is DIY-able. Just saying.

I just looked through the service manual CD i bought on HSO-Classifieds and didn't see anything about the indicator lamps. :-(

I looked at the smartcraft documents on mercury's HSOforum and couldn't find anything there either. If you know what model it is, you should be able to find the technical info there.

I'd probably give a dealer a call. I did the same as Del and didn't come across anything on the indicator lights.
