CC Rocks
I am thinking of getting the Patternmaster choke specifically for Black Cloud. I would like to know if anybody has one and if they noticed a difference with or without it. Second I would like to know if it would screw onto a Remington barrel that currently uses a Remchoke system.
NR
My understanding is that Black Cloud and Patternmaster are not to be used together for safety reasons. Although, in the interest of full disclosure, I picked up that information on a web forum like this, so I would suggest either avoiding the combination or doing more homework and if you procede, get the info from a reliable source, not some avatar on a forum. skee0025
Patternmaster does make a choke specifically for black cloud. You can find it on their site. I tried Black cloud and was really not impresses by it. I put a pattermaster on my Browning last year and had good results with it. I would normally shoot Hevi Shot but that was getting a little too expensive, so I though I would give pattermaster a try after hearing good things. It seems to have been a good choice, I am no longer shelling out about $2 a shell for Hevi Shot and getting similar results. Who knows though, i've only had the choke on for 1 season, I may have just been having a good year behind the trigger. Time will tell. Maxxed Out
PatternMaster choke tubes are great, but they don't work with blackcloud because of the holes on Patternmasters. The federal rep at gamefair explained it and it has to do with the black cloud wad. He said it can cause barrel damage, but mainly it will cause the blackcloud to pattern terribly. I believe Briley makes a 'cloud' specific choke tube. That being said, I would go with the PM. I guide and often am the last person to shoot because I'm trying to take down cripples and I shoot the cheap stuff typically and I've dropped birds dead at amazing distances that I never did when shooting a modified choke. Also definately reduced the amount of sailors that I've shot since making the switch.
