Rifled Choke Tube

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some info/ opinions on rifled choke tubes. I have a benelli uper nova that I might use (shotgun only zone) for the early doe season in WI. I dont want to drop the cash for a new barrel and wondering which tubes to look at and what slugs to use with them. I know I will have to find out what works best for my gun, but looking for a few suggestions.

Asuming that you are not putting any kind of sights on the gun I would just use your cylinder/skeet choke and use the regular rifled slugs. It is not worth spending money on a rifled choke tube and sabot slugs unless you have good sights.

its a gimmick. there is a reason rifles have the entire barrel rifled and not just the end. You could buy it and find out for yourself but I would save the money for something else. that is the beauty of this hobby, there is always something else to buy

The only place you'd be able to measure your results would be in NWTF still target competitions....most of the winners now utilize straight rifling in the choke.

we are talkin deer here, not thunder chickens.

I run a rifled choke in my winchester sx2. i get very very nice groups at 70 yards with remington buckhammer slugs. its probably not needed, as most of my shots are inside 60 yards, but i have taken a few deer in minnesota at ranges out to 80 yards with this combo.
