a friend and I were looking at competing flasher specs and noticed one of the sell points for the Vex FL-22 was that it fit into a 5 gallon bucket. Does the LX-5 fit nicely into a 5 gallon bucket? This may be the "make-it-or-break-it" spec for my friend, hahaha! Who knows, maybe I'll buy one just for this reason too! I already bought the tackle box that snaps onto the 5 gallon bucket smile

That really should not even have any bearing on which flasher you buy winkgrin

Separation and features should be priority #1

It is very rare that I even put my flasher in a bucket. Most times I put it on top of stuff in my Otter and make sure it is in a safe spot were it will not move around a lot or fall out.

jimalm is right. I own an LX5 and I'v never even attempted to put it in a bucket, I, like jimalm, always put my flasher on top where it wont move or fall out. It's one of the first things you'll need when you get to where your going, so why have it buried in a bucket in the bottom of your sled. You wan't to buy a flasher buy the one that fits your fishing style, not your bucket.

Haha! Quote of the day for sure smile

We were just joking that it was a bulleted selling point anyways. But I did buy the vex, and padded a 5 gallon bucket with 1/4 inch foam smile

My friend is planning on getting a Ice 45 now I believe.

What if bucket fishing is the fishing style?

usually at that point you have a bucket in one hand and your flasher in the other. Most people that put their flasher in a bucket do so only for transport, it would be pretty hard to run and gun if you had to stow your flasher in your bucket every time you decide to move, instead stow the rod in the bucket grab the flasher and go start dunking the ducer on the look out for fish. Don't be small minded.

I do a lot of "Bucket Fishing", and it requires planning to do well.

If your walking in, than less is more, storage is at a premium. I want everything I need in two hands, and in one trip. So making a system streamlined is critical.

The ice chisel, hand auger, or power auger will take one hand up, that's a given. All else for maximum mobility must be in the Bucket.

So, in this fight, I'm firmly in the camp of Buckets and bucket bound accessories all need to be compatible and well balanced to be as user friendly and efficient as possible.

I'm a card carrying member of the "Bucket Brigade"...and Dam proud of it...Hoooo...Raaa!

Well...At least tell it gets really cold...then @#$%$ that...I'm get'n in my R2-Tec Commando Pro.....screw that Eh.

i have a nice little deep sided jet sled for all that, why would you carry a bucket, an auger, and a chisel, when it will all fit into a sled that you can pull? plus on early ice anything you carry adds to your weight, all that added weight while walking is on one foot, then the other, with the sled you spreading your weight over a larger area, thus less chance of going through. I with ya on that R2-tech, That just might be my big purchase this year.

milk crates work great. Just rig up a handle of some sort, or throw two or three on a little sled and add everything. Sit on em too upside down. Just cant store bait very well! But if yer a panfish guy with waxies and plastics it does the trick.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
