hydro
If the GPS and tach are indeed correct, you are running about 7% slip, well into race boat territory, so some parameter is most likely off. If that 5800 RPM is correct, you are way over the factory recommended range and that issue needs to be addressed before you hatch your motor. Mercury Marine has an excellent page on propeller theory, design, and selection that you may find useful and you should be able to easily find it on their site. Also contact Jay Soderbloom as already mentioned for some good advice and recommendations.

tonkapat
Esox I have the same motor and run a 19 pitch aluminum mercury prop and at 5200 I get 44 to 46 mph. I have a 17 aluminum also and would start to overrev well before 40mph. Take it easy with that 17 until u get dialed in.
Esox_Magnum
After fishing with a friend this weekend I need more speed, mine felt like I was trolling last night after spending the weekend in his Z-20 at near 70 MPH

hydro
You got that. Fast boats get spendy in a hurry, and 70 MPH is is slug territory when you start talking speed..

JohnMickish
When you get fast and paid for it gets real fun.
