Meat-Run
Anybody with experience camping at McCarthys and how far is the beach from the campsites? I have a family of 4 with a pop-up and would like to give it a try, could you swim infront of the campsite on the "side lake" of the camp ground?thanks for any advice, trying to book another trip for labor day weekend.mr
reinhard1
i was waiting for someone to give you a more recent update. but i dont things changed that much. i cant remember how close the beach was to the campsite but i do remember it is all beach. clean water and you could walk out it seemed forever without going above your waistline. if your in it for swimming you will enjoy the campground and the beach. good luck. upnorth
The actual beach is much nicer, but you could swim right across from the campground. No doubt the walk to the actual beach is a bit of a hike, couple of blocks anyway. Shouldn't be too bad unless you have real young ones with. Meat-Run
thanks for the help guys, I have an almost 4yo but we could take bikes over to the beach. Hows the fishing off the peer for panfish I assume good? What kind of drive time would it be from brainerd you think? Thanks and sorry for all the questions?mr
upnorth
Brainerd is probably a little over 2 hours. No idea of the pier fishing, but suspect there would be a fair amount of pannies.
