otis32
I am heading out to colorado Elk hunting sept.12 with the muzzle loader. Just wondering what to use for camo and how much orange clothes do you need. What kind of bullets and how much powder I should use. I shoot 100 grain pellets here, but is that enough? I want to start shooting this weekend. I put a post on here before but our computer crashed and I didn't find any thing .Thanks for any help. good luck this year and stay safe!!! Cheetah
If you are hunting heavily wooded areas in the mountains, your regular deer hunting camo should be fine. Just bring layers in case it gets cold, which it probably will at night. Crappy boots can ruin your hunting real quick. You should probably spend the next month working out, walking with a heavy pack on, etc. You should have a good day pack that you can put extra food, clothes and gear into. Some emergency gear in case you get lost. If it is a fully guided hunt, you might not need a lot of this stuff, and you should call the guide for what he suggests you bring. The orange question you should refer to the CO regulations. It might be different than MN. Same for all the other regs. Lots of public land out west you can't bring ATV's on and there are various other restrictions. I'd be willing to bet an orange vest and hat would be sufficient, the more you wear the safer you'll be.I don't know much about muzzle loaders to answer that last question. BLACKJACK
As Cheetah mentioned, start working out!!! Those mountains will kick your butt!!! By being in good shape, you can cover more ground.
