Mille Lacs - North Side Smallies

I saw the post from a few weeks ago about Mille Lacs smallies and most of the advise seemed to center on the south side. I'm heading out of Wealthwood this weekend in my brother-in-law's boat (16 ft aluminum with 25hp) and needless to say, will probably be sticking fairly close to shore. I've fished the Myr Mar rock reefs down to Garrison with pretty good luck in the past, but wondering if anyone has any other advice for the north side. Would love to pick the brains of some of the Mille Lacs experts on the board on some places to try. I've got my Lowrance Expedition with the Lakemaster chip and I know he has a depth finder, but thats about it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know much about the north side of mille lacs. i have heard its really shallow and very sandy. my in-laws have a cabin on the north east side of the lake about 1 mile south of Malmo. i would say your best bet is do you best to find some rock reefs in the area and throw tubes, grubs, crawbaits, spinnerbaits on the edges of the reefs. there are a lot of smaller rock reefs on the north east side that arent marked on GPS, you just have to find them. you could probably go out to some of the deeper rock reefs in 12-15 feet of water and drop shot with a gulp leech..ive done well doing that on the north east side of mille lacs too. sorry couldnt give you more info.
