pulleye16
I'm sure this has been posted but whats the formula for deodarizing a pet? My dog had a run in this weekend but fortunalty the skunk must have missed. She smells a little but was almost gone in two days. What do you use? I've heard the best is some homemade formula but the shelf life is very short.Thanks....and hopefully I won't need to use this in the future! bearberg
Skunk Odor Removal Formula 1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (found in any drug store) ¼ cup Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate) 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap (like Dawn or Palmolive, but any similar dish soap will work)
Ufatz
Be careful with the mixture around the dogs face and eyes. It should work well in the case at hand without a "direct hit" on your pal.
NWBuck
I've used that general formula several times, and it works well, but in some of the worst cases I've had to repeat the application a day or two after the first. Good luck.
leechlake
another formula I've used is 1 part bleach or so to 10 parts water, in case you don't have the other supplies handy. I got to use this last Sunday at about 10pm, be careful around the eyes of course but the dog ends up smelling like a pool with a hint of skunk rather than all skunk. Dog got neutered on Friday and skunked on Sunday, nice weekend for him.
FishDC
I've used the one by bearberg and had success. It seems to work best if you can get it on them as soon as possible.
