Shoot2Kill
In the 2010 fishing regulations there are 22 pages of lakes with special regs on them. No one is expected to know them all but we are expected to read all signs at the landing. And make sure we do so or we stand a good chance of getting a ticket. JMO But I dont think (I did not see it) is a good excuse. You should be making it a point to read all signs at a landing. This the only way you can be sure you are fishing within the laws for that lake. I was at a lake the other day that is infected. A guy pulled out his pontoon out and the trailor was full of weeds as he pulled away. I stoped him and told him he cant leave here with his trailor like that this was an in fected lake. He said he did not know that and that he also did not see the signs.( Iam not sure how you put a boat in an infected lake without seeing the signs ) So should he also be releaved of 2/3 of his wrong doing. As I said in my first post if you dont make sure you have read every sign in the lot. take what you get The MN Disctrict Court felt my explanation was valid and that's all I really care about. If you feel the state of MN is still owed the remaining 2/3 of the fine I can post the address for you to send the check to for the remaining $78. MNcz
i'm calling around. this lady at carver park reserve (though in carver county it is formerly part of the hennepin county regional parks system now called the Three Rivers Park District) had a visa/mastercard decal in her window. i asked if i could buy an annual vehicle permit, and she says Three Rivers Park District doesn't do those! i even said "so... if i goto Bryant Lake (another former Henn. Cty. now 3 Rivers park) I don't need a permit?" and she replied nope. i'll have to call. i know anoka, carver (all county parks OTHER than the one called carver park reserve) and washington i got a sticker for my car for $25 for the annual. sorry dude that you got a ticket. i think there must be some mixed info. i know when i drove into the in-development lake waconia regional park yesterday, the guy hadn't seen the anoka county version of the sticker. heh, i get the feeling he at least called someone to check or decided not to care. but, especially since they say you need a permit, and that girl told me you don't at carver (same parks district) you got screwed. now, it's probably out of their hands. you should've called that park's offices right away and you would've probably been able to get some way out of it. i know out there like baker and those kinda 30+ miles from the city places they don't have the attendant. it is rather ridiculous to make phone calls before you goto a park, but i did when i went to park at coon rapids east. as far as the person in the "stop" gatehouse, they aren't there sometimes. the park rangers are always there, normally riding little golf cart-like or other similar things. THEY are the ones who normally catch it when someone doesn't have a sticker.
bassfshin24
Actually Three Rivers Park District does have an annual pass. I actually just bought one last night at Lake Bryant, $35.00.

MNcz
http://www.threeriversparks.org/activities/passes.aspxlet me know please if it was called "boat trailer pass" or not. the annual boat trailer pass looks to be $35. no vehicle permit shown on the site. it sounds like you only have to pay for the permit to park the boat trailer. sneaky.o congrats on getting your fine reduced btw too. bassfshin24
I think you are correct MNcz. I dont think you need one for just parking a car but you will need one for parking a trailer.
Hoffer
I dont see a thing wrong with questioning that ticket - and the fine he ended up paying seems way more in line than the original 120.00 or whatever it was - so I say good for you. I think the state said "make sure you read the signs in the future...but we wont bend you over this time". I think it was fair for both sides.Regarding the Indy parking area. There is no permit or fee charged for using the park or for parking a car. The have a seperate area for parking trailers - and this is where you have to pay the 5.00 fee (or can get a season pass). If your going to use that park and only park your car...you dont need to worry about a season pass or the 5.00 daily fee.
