Carving lures

Recommended Posts

has anyone else out there tryed carving their own lures? I know alot of people modify or alter spinners and rapalas but I've been able to find very little on the web about making/carving your own plugs and jerkbaits. Does anyone know of any good websites or resources for info on this seldom practiced craft?

I started to carve lures a week ago, it's rally fun when you are a bored high school kid who has nothing to do but fish and sleep. I mostly carve poppers, everything else is too hard.

I started carving stick baits a year ago along with airbrushing. Very addicting hobby. Do a web search on tacklemaking. You'll find a wealth of imformation on how to's, tip and tricks.
Good luck and have fun. smile.gif

My neighbor makes his own muskie lures, some jokes (little poodles the size of a softball) & some that have seen plenty of teeth. His favorite is a dying sunfish. It's flat and has a longitudinal vent so that when he jerks it it dives a little down sideways and flutters back up - he said he's on his 6th one.
