Bear Guides

Recommended Posts

Wondering if any bear guides new anything about these new rules? I have never seen or heard anything about this I just stumbled across it online. We need to attend a bear clinic, and pass an exam? Certified CPR? Does anyone have any information on where and how to attend this "Bear Hunting Outfitter Clinic"???

I heard this applies to new "Master Outfitters". If you had a bear guide license last year you do not need to go through the process. If you want to get a "Guide" license you must work under a "Master Outfitter". New Master Outfitters have to go through the licensing process. This is what a guide friend of mine tells me. This has nothing to do with bear hunter clinics.

The only difference between a Master Outfitter and a "Guide" is the master outfitter license is good for two people to bait instead of one.

Same price, $82.50 each. This has always been optional but that HSOforum is saying otherwise. DNR is getting a phone call tommorow.

I don't think so. Good luck.

That HSOforum is not correct for 2010 as he said it will more then likely take in effect next season, he also told me its not the DNR but the Bear guiding association that wants to do that. As for the licenses, there is no difference between a Master Outfitter and a Regular Outfitter except the master allows two people to bait and take compensation. Still $82.50 per person.

As a master outfitter we are allowed to have "helpers" and a guide license is solo. As for the the new rules coming down the pipe the guides are the ones that get to jump through hoops. If they ever pass the laws it involves more training, more paper work, more resrtictions and a whole mess of changes. Some are good and some are just foolish.

As for the Guides assocation we do play a part in recomending or acting as a refferal for regualtions but these laws coming down the pipe are DNR driven.
