waskawood
Does anybody use a ceramic cooker such as The Green Egg or any of the other brands on the market? If so, how do you like it? Worth the money? I hate my Weber gas grill so I am going back to charcoal.
McGurk
(I'll take that nasty ol' Weber gas grill off your hands...)I'm a recent charcoal convert myself. I used charcoal in college, and after I got married switched to gas. I finally saw the light after repeated mediocre cooks. I don't have a BGE, but it sounds like they are the cat's meow! The Komados and bubba steel kegs are all of a similar design, but they are all priced differently. Try scouring Craig slist for some options if you don't have the $800 for a BGE, table, and accesories.
reinhard1
since i'm older and wiser i use both. they both serve a purpose. gas is quicker but charcoal has a special place in my heart for flavor. good luck.
trufer
I have had a big green egg for a couple of years. They are expensive but well worth the money. The couple of extra minutes it takes to get the grill hot are well worth the better flavor.
Kidd
I hate my Weber gas grill so I am going back to charcoal. There is another option. I have a gas grill and I put an oversized cookie sheet over the burners, load up the cookie sheet with charcoal, turn on the gas and wait for the coals to start burning. Best of both worlds. Gas when I'm in a hurry, or dead of winter. Charcoal when I want to spend the extra time, all on the same grill.
bbqhead
I went to a few BBQ competitions and hung out with a few teams that I know.A lot of the teams use BGE's and love them. Way out of my price range! You can smoke at a lower temp or do pizza's at a real high temp.randy
