I just finshed a small fish house and would like to put a tv in there for kids. Any advice on what to buy? I have a generator, but maybe 12v would be the best. I also thought about just a tv/dvd player and forget about a dish or antenna. please share your experience with tvs.

I use a 17 inch flat screen (not to expensive!) with a built in DVD player for the kids. It also works great when fishing if you have a camera to throw down and hook up to the tv. No small screen to strain the eyes. Fun to watch too! I have a 110 set up so I have to use the generator most of the time but also use an invertor for the 12 volt sometimes to keep the noise down. The tv is mounted on a swivel arm so it can move easily and save space when not in use.

There are some good deals out on TV/Monitors that can pull double or triple duty. You can pick up digital tv and plug into a wide verity of applications like a laptop, DVD player, usb flash drives, or even an I-Pod. The price is good now on them up to 25"...Under $300.

The Samsung P2570HD 25" is a good one, highly rated, lots of flexible connectivity on this monitor TV unit.

I'm ordering up one for my new computer/tv monitor, and I think it would do very well for a shack application.

I seen one packages available for the Samsung P2570HD 25 with a wireless keyboard and mouse for $359.99.

You could even plug the Vexilar FS-1000 color underwater camera into it. smile

I sell both dish network and directv often times folks will use there account for 6 months out of the year and put on suspend. Dish you can do a flex account which is like prepaid tv. Or have a DVR and record a bunch of stuff while at home and bring it with to replay the shows while on the ice.

i like the comments from the hard core fishermen on here, but I have kids and they do need other forms of entertainment...

With that, I bought a Visio LCD-LED HDTV that runs off 110, but it converts the power to 12 V dc. The TV power input is stamped 12V DC. I have read on some RV forums that one can run it on strictly 12 volts, with some hardware (voltage regulator-surge protector). Does anyone have any experience with this?

Seriously, I have a 32" Visio that I pull from my office and put it in the fish house for a few months out of the year along with the HD receiver from Directv. It is 110V running off my generator, but I also have a converter that I hook up to the batteries so that I can turn the TV on at night when the Geny is off if I want to check the weather report or something.

I plug the Marcum camera into it to see the big picture of the lake bottom from time to time.

I have a dish mounted to an umbrella stand that I can move around on the ice and be portable and not have to worry about mounting to the house. I have an adapter mounted on the outside of the house to hook up the cable to.

I have noted that a lot of the underwater cameras are for the kids also. I have a 13" TV with a DVD player that I use to entertain the kids while I'm by myself. blush I only use it while I'm running my generator to charge my batteries though. I now have a CPAP to help my breathing while I sleep so I guess my generator will be running all night long. It's probably a good thing that I stay away from the crowds and the generator is quiet.

Ok Mule, you got me... I do get a little bored at times and the heater refuses to talk to me anymore... confused.gif

I will dig into the conversion/wiring for running the LED LCD tv off the batteries. If anyone is in the market for one similar to what I have, look out and read the power input for the TV. I saw some that require 19 volts, others that only require 12 volts the standard 110 volt and others that didn't specify (that I could readily find). Of course, running the generator is ideal, but I have a Coleman that isn't quite as whisper quiet as the Honda.

Well I got it to work... Bought the Autoadapter Tip "m" and the enercell 12vdc-5A power adapter from the radio store.

Came home, drove the Jeep into the garage, stretched out the cord, left the tv plugged hooked up to the cable, plugged her in and it worked like a charm. No inverter required.

I think I will buy some sort of power stabilizer or something so the tv isn't damaged from a low battery.

      we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.

      I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.

      reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
