Double Checking-passport question

If I have a friend who goes and applies for a passport and gets the paperwork, would he be able to get across the border next week with that or does he need to wait for the actual document? Thanks!

I may be wrong but I don't think the paper will work. I would call up there and ask before hand though.

The last I heard is they really can't stop you from coming home.. I think they told a friend of mine they will allow you to cross but you have to stop in at the US border BEFORE and AFTER and fill out some paperwork.... give them a call!

The last four times across my buddy hasn't had a passport and they've let him through. One time they made us get out of the car and wait about five minutes and then let us through.

He may recieve a "non-compliant" slip... can't keep him there, but, I wouldn't mind calling home and telling them I'm staying in Canada. Not sure what the canadians will think of me

in canada we can pay a little extra for an expidited passport, usually 2 day turn around. your friend should see if he can go this route.

There is an office in St. Paul that can get you a passport that day, not sure where it is, but, I heard they don;t want to see you there unless you have plans for leaving the country in the next 14 days. Maybe some one else can ellaborate!
