JBMasterAngler
Years ago I used oatmeal with great success. Then last year I tried it, and I couldn't get it to form on the hook.Basically I just poor it in my hand then dunk in the water and clench my fist for about 10 seconds, then mold it on the hook and that would work. However, last year that didn't work. My only theory is that the oatmeal I used was a generic brand. Perhaps it has to be the namebrand stuff? HuskerBen
Or you could be using old fashioned oats, as opposed to quick oats or instant oats. Old Fashioned are thick, and don't absorb water very quickly so they don't stick so well on a hook. Quick oats work better, and instant oats seem to work the best, IMO. JBMasterAngler
That makes sense. I think I was using quick oats though, as they come in the individual microwave packets. Maybe I'll just dunk them longer.
