pushbutton
was outside tonight and felt a light bite/ burning sensation on my foot, take off my shoe and it was an ant biting me. it was black on the bottom and the next two sections were red. it was aggressive as all get out. just got done looking at the picture of what a fire ant looks like and it sure looks the same. also googled their range and it does not appear to be this high up. has anyone else seen these here? jeffreyd
amdro is the best method i know of to get rid of them. put it on their pile and leave the rest up to them. you should be able to locate the den pretty quick, it will be big.
croixflats
Ive come across red ants that bite but nothing like you described. Was this guy biting you or stinging you. Fire ants will bite and hold on while repeatedly stinging you from abdoman.. When I lived in Texas for a summer ounce in a while I would hear of someone coming across a nest and get nasty stings all over them. Ok that skeeter bite I just got didnt help. pushbutton
dont know if stinging or biting, will go out and sacrifice some part of my body tomorrow in the name of science. i know where they are located......their hive is traditional. and not a hill. but do have the same color pattern as fire ants, also just googled minnesota ants and looks like there are about 100 different types, would assume it is one of those.....spent a lot of time outdoors and never been worked over by an ant
