Boar
Found my last site ysterday, A large track of private land, thicker than straw on harvested wheat feild butting up against a swampy marshy area. Checked it out an found track in the a low drainage ditch that runs outa it. Found scat that appeared to be not to old still pretty moist for most of it. A little larger than a small diner plate. 57, I'm from RLF an the area I hunt is starting get pretty dry, half the sites were running have nice water holes in them that are to big to dry up, hope this dry weather keeps up an burns the berries out. Hope acorns arnt makeing abig invasion this year I got so pumped up yesterday i forgot to look. LAter boar
jerkbait
When you guys find Bear beds, how big are they? When I was out scouting last weekend I found a couple of large beds, thought that they were to big for deer. The size was probably about 4' long x about 3' wide, kinda of egg shape. I didn't find any tracks or scat, ran out of time because a thunderstorm chased me out of the woods last Sunday. More looking this weekend. cherokee
Well the stink bait transfer was a disaster. Last time doing that sort of thing. You should smell my neighborhood. I was cutting my lawn right after I attempted the transfer and just chuckled at the stink making its way into my neighbors house . I swear the guys down the street (downwind) were giving me the look. They were like meeting in the street discussing that gawd awful smell. I had a funnel all set up in the plastic jug and just broke the cover when word came supper was ready. Well after supper I went back up and flys were all over the bucket (I just unearthed and cracked cover). When I took the cover off the stench was so bad I almost puked. Seriously, the odor was so strong that I had to pull my shirt up over my mouth and nose. I started to tip the bucket and only got a little juice. Keep in mind the 22 pound carp was still covering the top but hardly recognizeable. I thought maybe it just dried up so I tipped the bucket more and guess what happened. All the stinking rotten fish under the carp came flying out and splattered all over the place. I had to vacate the area fast. Needless to say I buried the whole mess and now have a stinky 5 gallon bucket to deal with. I'll let that air out for a while. I guess my bait pit will be nice and sweet this year. lakeshoremunster
oh man that sucks big timehave you thought of just cutting your stuff into small chunks or tossing it in a blender and then storing them in smaller jugs instead of one big jug and then pouring it into smaller jugs
cherokee
No, but that is a great idea. I should have remembered my trapping days when I made coon and mink bait by using a canning jar filled with minnows. The oil settled to the top. Much smaller and easier to work with.
