two of the most meaningful things in my life have been the adoption of my son and humane society mutt. this morning i had to put my old man down. he was a few months shy of 18. it was the hardest thing i have ever done. at least my tears have been interrupted with the smiles of looking back at pictures of his long and wonderful life! here are a few picts of the "boys" together.

I had to put my 7 year old yellow lab down kidney failure. Hardest thing ever

I feel you pain. This was sent to me then and, Im sending it to you.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,

that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can

run and play together.

There is plenty of food and water and sunshine,

and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and

vigor;

those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,

just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing:

they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly

stops and looks into the distance.

The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green

grass,

his legs carrying him faster and faster.

YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally

meet,

you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the

beloved head,

and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,

so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER... er. This was sent to me then and Im sending it to you. I feel your pain.

How long did you have your dog? I ask because your dog looks strikingly like the dog my family had growing up. When my brother and I left for college my mom was not able to dedicate the time and energy to care for him. She ended up bringing him to the humane society. It wasn't an easy decision for us, especially for my mom. It would be very refreshing to hear that he lived a long happy life. Jack had three white paws and one black.
