Car clicker Problem

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

My wifes car clicker isnt working quite right and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?

The lock button does not work, but the unlock and trunk button do. I tried replacing the battery and that didnt make any difference. I also tried wiping off the point where the button touched....still doesnt work. Any other suggestions? Its a 2007 Grand Prix if that makes a difference.

THANKS!

You can test it by taking it apart and touching something metalic across the part of circuit board of the non working button. If it works that way, its more than likely not making contact with the pad anymore. I've repaired DOZENS of these with a tiny drop of super glue and a small piece of aluminum foil on the rubber pad (inside the remote). If that doesnt fix it, its time to replace it. Below is a picture of one I just did for my daughter. Her lock button wasnt working but I did both anyway. This has worked on virtually 100% of the remotes I have done it to.

Yeah, so have I, but it seems that once you clean them, they seem to go bad again sooner. I believe the surface of the rubber pad has some kind of metalic material impregnated in it, and if you are too agressive cleaning it its gone for good. I learned that the hard way, and decided to try the foil as a last resort and it seems to work good. My remote quit working shortly after buying my last used truck. Thats when I tried the foil and its worked fine for a year and a half now.
