05 F150

i have a 05 super crew f150, and it seems run like [PoorWordUsage] for some reason. I checked the oil, and its low, but only has 3k on it. Everyonce in awhile, when i start it after a long period of it sitting around, it blows white smoke. now when i start it, the check engine light is on??

anyone have this problem before.

Could be many things. Go to an Autozone and have them read out the code stored from the check engine light.

Does the white smoke smell like coolant, or raw fuel? I would also get the code checked, it would help in what is actually wrong.

BNS, my truck is exactly like yours and I have noticed the smoke once or twice but it has not been running bad. I am not sure what it is either. I will be watching this closely.....no lights have been coming on with my truck either

White smoke could be nothing, but get the code checked.

there wasnt any codes. for some reason the light was on that one night, and now it hasnt been on since. still running ruff. when you stand in from of the truck when its running, it is louder then normal

Is you're fan clutch stuck?

There should be a code stored regardless if the light is on or not.

light came back on again last night. might have to take is somewhere to have them pull the codes. Still when you start it after it sits over night runs really high, then drops back down to where it seems it should be.

maybe this is just what ford trucks do?

That should be just about every time you start it and just about every ford vehicle does it. If it didn't I would be worried.

I have a 97 Explorer. Got it in May. Drove it a month, no CEL on. Got gas one day, CEL came on. 3 days later, I squirted a few bucks worth of gas in it, CEL went off. Gas caps are notorious for this- ANY make/model. My dads Chevy Avalanche has same problem, after checking online, alot of people replaced their gas cap in their Avalanches and solved it.
