15 hp 4stroke vs 25 2stroke

Rivernut

Question

Thinking of sellimg my 25yamaha 2 stroke, and replacing w/ 4stroke15. It will be on a 14 ft. jon. I know the upside, but how much speed will I loose. I know it will be some, just don't want it to be rediculous. Thanks

I think you will kick yourself in the behind for going smaller. Once you get 2 guys and all there gear in the boat I think you will seriously regret going smaller. I have a 60hp 4 stroke right now and my old 50hp 2 stroke had a much better holeshot but the 4 has better top speed and a lot less noise. If it was a choice between a 25hp 2 or 4 stroke then I would say go for the 4 stroke. Bigger is better as long as it trolls down slow enough and even that can be changed by dragging a bucket grin
