? for the tile guys out there, floor leveling

so this past week i was using Level-Quik Rapid Set floor leveler to raise a floor over some heating cables before we do carpet on a project. We ran a few bags short on the leveler so had to run and get more to fill in, and ended up with some rough edges. Does anyone know if these can be knocked down with a belt sander or a rub brick, or if this stuff is to hard. I was thinking that would be the easiest way, or else i may need to feather them out with some thin set. thanks

I use a Bosch concrete grider with vac attachment, but never tried a belt sander, might be too hard for that. I would think that feathering with some Henry or Armstrong floor patch and leveler would work, it dries fast and easy to work with. Thinset might work too but is harder to trowel smooth. Not sure how smooth you need it though.

Whatever you decide to do, don't get anywhere near the cables for the heating system, not even a slight nick.

If it were me, I would skim the floor with a thinset, ardex, or a similar product. I would not hit it with any power tool for fear of damaging the wires and making the system inoperable.

Knock down any high spots

(I use an angle grinder with or without a concrete blade depending how green the stuff is)

Then Put another thin coat of self level on.

This time make sure you have enough.

Don't start with your tile unless you are level.

Take the small money and time hit up front and make sure you have the best chance at a perfect tile job.

You have to look at it for many many years to come.

belt sander with a 50 grit worked great for knocking down the high ridges. floated the rest over with floor patch and worked great. thanks for the replies
