Photo shop?

I am looking to get some input on a photo shop program. I am a beginner to photography so I probably do not need anything crazy right? So what are my options and the price ranges?

I use elements 8 on my windows 7. mainly to crop and fine tune a little. way too much stuff on it for me to learn. maybe some day. under 100 if you search online.

I second Photoshop Elements (not the full-blown Photoshop CS versions). Very affordable at under $100. Plenty of features a beginner can learn to use, and there's so much now that Elements is able to do that there's plenty of room to grow into it if a person wants to.

In addition to what has already been suggested, Paint.NET and GIMP are free and very full featured. Paint Shop Pro is on sale for $59 from Corel now, it will do probably 90% of what Photoshop does for $600.

If you want something to organize your photos and do basic editing Googles Picasa is pretty good and very fast, and free.

I will second the paint shop pro X2, it can do anything I need it to do and for pretty cheap as well.

It can colorize, histogram adjust, brighten, frame etc.
