dudewheresmyboat
I blew my powerhead on my 03 Merc EFI. Motor had just under 300 hours, cylinder #1 rod broke. Any suggestions of what to do next? The dealer where its at now wants 7k to rebuild, what are your suggestion and/or ideas of what to do next? Help!
Cecil
look for a rebuilt powerhead and also check your insurance policy, some might have it covered
dudewheresmyboat
insurance won't cover it. Any recommendations of where to get a reman locally??
Larson15
Call Extreme marine in Wyoming, they will treat you right. The 7k quote is way out of line for a rebuild. It should cost about 4-5k to rebuild. 6-7k could buy you that same engine used. 10k buys a new one with 5 yrs of warranty
RK
Hiya - My first recommendation, based on personal experience, is to limit yourself to a six-pack, and don't kick anything solid...Beyond that, $7k does seem awfully steep. Been a while since I blew one up but I'd ask around on that one. I've also heard Extreme does good work.Good luck getting back on the water soon. No fun having a sick boat.Cheers,Rob Kimm

Cecil
Twin City Outboard in south metro (shakopee maybe) is a good option too
