SkunkedAgain
Our house has a Montgomery Ward double-oven/stove that was made in the 50s/60s. Recently the main oven stopped working and I want to get it repaired. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone in the TC Metro that works on old appliances? I don't want to deal with ten guys telling me to just replace the thing. It's in great condition.
bearslayer
Is it gas or electric? Could be something easy you could fix yourself. Can probably walk you through it.
SkunkedAgain
It's electric. The smaller oven on the left works but neither element on the big oven works. The lights that usually come on when the oven is on also do not come on anymore, so I assume that an electrical connection has failed or some small unit in the oven. I'm just not sure how to even begin with this thing. Any advice would be helpful...although I'm out of town until Friday so I won't be able to post any pictures until then. bearslayer
If it's that old, check for broken or burned wires. Another thing to check is if it has a clock or a switch to set it to auto or manual, it has to be on manual to work (alot of times it gets bumped and u don't notice). Next you would be looking at getting into probably the selector switch or thermostat. Good luck and let me know if you have more questions. SkunkedAgain
It works! My wife played around with the Start/Stop switches a few weeks ago so I had her check those and that fixed the problem. Thanks bearslayer. I definitely owe you a beer!
