Leadcore to mono knot?

Perchy

Recommended Posts

Use an Albright Special knot to join lead core line to monofilament. This is by far the best, strongest and most reliable knot to use. The knot is similar to a nail knot and creates the least amount of stress on the lead core line. Refer to the reference link below for an illustration on how to tie the Albright Special.

Step

2

Attach lead core line to a barrel swivel and the swivel to standard monofilament as an alternative the the Albright Special knot. Since the lead core line does not handle twist well, this is a good method to use when short lengths of lead core are being used. Tie both the lead core and the mono using a standard Trilene knot.

Step

3

Rely upon the trusted and true surgeons knot if you don't want to take the time to tie an Albright Special knot. This is a simple but strong knot used to join two lines together. Refer to the link below to see how this knot is tied.

like the one guy said......pull back the dacron sheath until you expose about 4 inches of the lead, then break the lead off. Pull the sheath straight, then take 10 lb. mono and insert it all the way up into the sheath until it butts up against the lead inside. Tie a simple over hand knot (once through) and you are good to go. No way that comes loose, and you don't have to worry about running a swivel through the eyelets on your rod and into your reel. Make sure the knot is tied within the four inch area where you removed the lead. **This is however, a tough technique to do when you are in the boat and its windy and the boat is bouncing about.
