I have a Loomis Walleye series trolling rod that I love for long line trolling. The tip on that thing is great for seeing and feeling if your bait is fouled. Great backbone too. A bit spendy, but worth the money if you ask me.

I also have a couple other trolling rods too that were much cheaper, they work too. If you are going to be doing any down rigging, boards, or even lead core there is no reason to spend lots of money on the rod.

Get a good line counter reel.

If they are going to be in rod holders a lot get cheaper ones. I like the Gander MT telescoping series. I like them for easy rod storage.

If you are going to hold them more than go with something a big smaller and lighter. The Shimano toloras are nice but there are tons of good trolling rods.

I just got one of the Scheels' 7'6" telescoping rods. Very good for the price. I want to ditch my cabelas depth master without ever using it. I hooked it up with a Diawa accudepth, so far I like it.

I love the 2 Jason Mitchell (Elite Series #JMST80MF) trolling rods I have. Very responsive and still soft enough to use with fireline. Great rods and the shorter handle is nice as it frees up space inside the gunnels.
