Have any of you seen these at your local home improement store?

OK its not a big enough motor! You get what you pay for! I know!

But for the amount yard work this could help with and not to mention a little fun driving it, I was rather impressed with looking at this. Not to mention it is about 1/4th the cost of the "Real thing".

The reason I am putting it out here is, I believe this can be licenced and driven on the trails? It's under 50" wide and under 900 pounds. Are there any other things that may stop a guy from licencing this for light trail use?

Yes it can be licensed and ridden on the trails if it's the machine I'm thinking of. It atleast needs to be registered with the private use registration, even if used on your own land.

You've already stated you're asking for it, but yes, buyer beware. I don't believe there's a bargain machine out there that isn't intended to break at some point. As with any other ATV out there, proper maintenance will help. You just might experience a little more maint. than if you were to find a good used name brand wheeler to do the same task.

There are some great deals out there. I've even seen some used 3-wheelers out there in great shape.

I know you put this question about the ys200 out there about 3 months ago but I just joined and saw the posting and had to let you know my experience with owning one. I was given this for a gift from my wife about 2 months ago after spending 6 months looking for something compact enough to take to the woods at our farm here in Michigan. I could not find anything that gave a bigger bang for the buck. The motor is a little light with more than one person in it. I am already looking at what might be available to replace the motor if so needed down the road but it runs great so far. A few things that I have done is replaced the rear tires with something more aggressive(bear claw) and put a camo wrap on it and put 3 coats of bed liner coating on the dump box and have enough left to do the floor . It gets me through every where I need to be. If it starts acting like the clutch is slipping at low speed just adjust the chain and that will take care of it. I have switched it over to synthetic oil to extend the life of the motor. I buy my filters online because they charge $24 for them here and online I get 4 of them shipped for $36. I am getting a plexiglass enclosure made up for it this week compliments of a hunting buddy. That will help this winter. Overall this thing has worked great so far and with my upgrades I have about an extra $200 dollars in it. Heck of a price point it has. Be glad to send you a pic of it with the upgrades

I saw one of these at a Menards store yesterday. Great looking wheeler. I do not apologise for saying that the price is VERY attractive. tomrlys, how can I get a hold of you for questions about the machine?

I'm astounded that a google search for anything about these UTV's turned up only this thread?????????????

It's weird that there aren't any other reviews for this unit online. There's been one set up outside of my Menards for about two weeks and a ton of people are looking at it. I'm about this close to buying one. My main concern is with snow plowing. I've got a 1000' driveway that's gradually uphill from my house. I'm concerned about that first pass through fresh snow. I've got a 42" snow blower as a backup (that I've been using to clear the driveway for the past four years). It just takes forever and I'm thinking this would same me a bunch of time.

I haven't noticed any of these machines at our local Menards store. They've always had a Polaris sitting outside from the local dealership.

You are not going to push more than an inch or 2 of snow with these things. They are glorified lawn tractors. I have seen some similar to these and after a short time they rattle and make so much noise it is unreal.

I almost bought the Yard Sport 200 till I test drove one at Menards last week. It has poor pick up from the start. Feels like a riding lawn mower, but it does pick up some speed. I have alot of hills on my property and I,m afraid it might not handle a couple of riders going up the hills. There where no hills to test it on at Menards. I guess I'm going to have to spend a couple more thousand for something better.

I finally saw one last night at the local Menards. I didn't care for how light it was built. It didn't appear to be able to handle any significant work such as plowing. Especially with the tires that were on it.

IMO this machine wouldn't be able to handle much more than hauling grass clippings across the yard or be used as a golf cart on a flat course.

I'm not impressed. If I were in the market for a similar machine, I'd definitely spend the money on a name brand and be confident that my purchase would last more than a year.

No, I never did hear from Tomrlys.

I did ride one though @ Menards. Pretty light on the HP. I would not buy one for plowing or hill climbing. It could prbably be best described as a ruggedized golf cart.

Well thank you to everyone for the new feedback, it is very much appreciated - especially those who test drove. I was hesitant about the power and ability to climb hills. It would seem that if the vehicle struggles just moving itself with you in it, it isn't going to be very happy with a hill, a plow, and a pile of snow in front of it. I haven't purchased one and after reading this feedback I'm not going to.

Price looks good, but still a lot of money to only be limited on options to put on it and not being 4 wheel drive.

I also will saving more $ for the real ones!

The yardsport 200 is made by American Sportworks specifically for Menards. You can look them up on the web. I believe YS200 is the only one available through Menards. It would be fine for doing yardwork and for someone who would have difficult time getting around outside.

I bought one late spring this year, My wife and I went to drumond island with my son and his girl friend. It was able to go anywhere we wanted to go with it (with in reason). I did have some Problems with it going up some hills with the two of us and the dog on the cart, if the ground was hard and pacted it went ok if it was sandy that is were the problem came in. Just had to learn its limitations. Still the cart is alot of fun for a lower price, great with the grandkids to.

I also seen the plow for it but was unwilling to pay the $700.00 Price tag. I had an old snow plow blade for a lawn tractor did a little welding and widened it to fit the cart, made a plow frame to bolt under the cart. Bought a super winch 2000 and installed it all on the cart funtionality it all works well. How much snow it will push I dont know yet. I'll let you know later. Merry Christmas everyone.

I looked at the plow they had for these at menards and was able to find it online somewhere for about $100 cheaper. I really don't think these are going to plow much snow very good. Mine handles good in the snow but with the factory front tires the steering washes out pretty easy. Also you will definitly want chains if you try to plow. Even with the crazy tires(kenda k299 bear claws) I put on the back of mine it would need chains I think. The only time I have got mine stuck so far in the snow was getting into some stuff that was pretty deep and road up on it. I was finally able to rock it out. I has been running great so far. Did have to take it in to have the master cylinder warrantied because it was hanging up. It is a little cold blooded but once it warms up good it seems fine.

Sure enough, after entering "YardSport 200" into Google, this is the only place that anyone has talked about them. Too Funny! (BTW, considering that, I think I'd pass on it...)

I always look at this thing when I go to Menards but I always come to the same conclusion: too much money for not enough machine for me. I think it could have a good niche market and be great for some people but it would simply be undersized for where I live and what I would want to do with it. I'll just save my pennies for a more powerful ATV or UTV.

But I do think they are cool little machines. Not sure if they are 4x4 but I'd agree probably need chains to plow. My 1938 Allis Chalmers B is all torque and no traction when it comes to snow/hard pack but chains fixed that right up. I could see this thing plowing ok, most ATVs run out of traction well before power.

I did not have to bring it in for a brake problem yet. What did they do hang up or no brakes at all? I did have an oil line brake and brought it in for that. As for the snow plow once I put it on it quit snowing (I am sure there will be more to come). I aso wunder how deep of snow it will go though for the possiblity of taking it ice fishing. I have seen 2 wheel drive quads out there already.

The back brake would not back off all the way and was overheating the rotor. I would just back off the connector at the master cylinder util I had time to take it in and get the master cylinder warrantied. As far as snow I only had it in 12 to 14 inches and the thing would ride up on the belly even with the tires I had on it. I would just back out and look for a way arround. I think chains would help with that. I have been running the heck out of this and so far so good. Just been changing the oil. Been using synthetic oil.

Bought a Yard Sport 200 at Menards a few days ago and have been impressed so far.

Seems to have plenty of power for climbing hills on my property due to tranmission design. (I was skeptical due to small engine size.) The UTV comes with well written and complete operators manual and full assembly diagrams and parts list.

I did a test drive at Menards and actually moved some snow in the parking lot with the plow. Seems to have adequate power, especially with the chains for traction.

Price was great with 11% mail-in rebate and 15% off coupon. -About $2250 after discounts. (did not buy the plow.)

The Menards staff did the complete assembly and had it ready to drive on to my trailer.
