I am looking for a very affordable GPS unit. I have been searching for both portable and permanent units. All of the permanent units seem to be out of my price range, but all of the portable units have terrible reviews and reliability.

Does anyone have advice on units that are reliable and very reasonably priced?

look for a slightly used Lowrance global map 3500,3600 5200 ect

check all the typical aution and list sights, there are some really good deals out there and remember that you will need to but a map chip. But check the updated lakes and if you don't fish any of them , you can buy a previous years chip.

chip....$25-$100

Also, the 2010 lakesmaster seems to not work with some of the older units, including my H2o

Has anyone used or have any experience with the

Eagle FishElite® 480 Sonar with External GPS

I found it online for about 320 bucks. I know it's not color but it's the closest to my price range I could find and it seemed to have good reviews.

Any thoughts?

I've got 640C with internal GPS, I really like it for the price. When I bought it I was able to get a chip, mount, and another transducer for the same price as a lowrance.
