Licensing Question!

Anyone know if you need to have a small game license to hunt turkey along with your actual turkey license? I see turkeys are included as small game in the DNR booklet. Help would be appreciated!

Been having disagreement on this with some buddies of mine.

Here is another question on turkey licensing for everyone. So turkeys are small game and you do not need a gun saftey to hunt small game but when I was trying to get my nephew a tag they would not sell him one because he was 15 and didn't have gun saftey yet you could bring a 8 year old in and get him a tag with no problems and no gun saftey. We ended up going to gander mtn and the only way for him to get a tag was to buy his apprentice hunter lic and then that would get him his turkey tag.

So what's the question?

Update:

I checked the online Hunting/Trapping regs and on page 18, the 4th bullet point states:

Youth age 11 and under may hunt wild turkeys without a firearms safety

certificate if accompanied by a parent or guardian who has a certificate.

To answer your question Archerysniper, someone the age of 15 is required to have the FAS Certificate or the Hunter Apprentice Validation as shown on the chart on page 34 of the online Hunting/trapping regs.

Thank you lep that cleared it up. My nephew has never showed any intrest in hunting but when I asked him if he wanted to try turkey hunting he jumped at it the only problem was he was 15 and no gun saftey wich I thought didn't matter for turkey hunting but I'm normally wrong just ask my wife.

New question. In the past the turkey license was around 17 - 18 bucks and then you bought the stamp separately. Now that the license is $23.00 does that include the stamp in the price? My agent where I bought the license didn't know.

I feel stupid asking.
