Fan Mounts?

We hunted SE MN A season and went 2 for 4. I was not one of the two, but the guys who got them want to get fan mounts done. Can anybody recomend a place to get them done in the east metro?

It's pretty easy to mount your own tail fan. Do a search for "How to make a turkey fan mount". Plenty of advise there. Then you just need to find a plaque to mount them on. They can be found at any sporting store. Some are nicer than others, just look around.

P.S. they ARE real easy to do it yourself. I would not pay someone else to do a simple tail mount for me.

Agree - easy to do. Kits available from any store or web catalog. Lot's of styles to chose from.

Cut-off the fan from body. Trim as much meat and fat from the tail section as possible. I use both salt and borax to cover the fatty areas of the tail to help "cure" it. I also recommend "curing" the tail in the basement while keeping it covered with salt/borax (note: not enough is supplied in the kit) or you may get maggots ...

I have tails that I did myself 12 years ago and they still look fine.

Same procedure for the beard.

Yes, get the borax on the skin very well or in the end, you may end up with a bug issue.
