New Fortex cutting out

My new minnkota fortex keeps cutting out, not working, even if its not hot or used on max for long periods of time. I have circuit breakers on my battery like they recomend. Am wondering if i have a bad trollin motor, or its not hooked up properly?

Is there any way for you to tell if it is your breaker or the trolling motor that is malfunctioning? How long does it cut out for? Could just be a bad or too small breaker.

My thoughts to, to small of breaker or to small of wire gauge. A 24V should be no less than 8ga 6 would be better and so on.

Minn Kota recommends 6 gauge wire and a 60 amp breaker on 24 volt systems. I would start at the breaker also.

Thanks for the info. Not sure what the breakers are. I have a 97 skeeter so i think its the factory wiring. Dont know what size that is

The problem is an easy fix in the foot pedal. The fortrex has an adjustment under the pressure knob that allows you to make better or worse contact. The purpose was to ensure that as the pedal wears, that the button/contact will not wear out like on some of the maxxum motors. I googled it and found my answer on a walleye fishing HSOforum, that had pics and everything. I had the opposite problem where my motor would start to run without any pressure on it.

i didnt the adjustment knob when i looked. Do u remember the site where u seen the picture?
