Anchoring Problems

Supercrew you hardly ever will find yourself using 2 lines much less 3. Some people will troll their allotment of lines but it isn't many. I would say something like 95% of all angling effort in the state (during the summer at least) is done with only 1 line.

Hey guys/gals. I have been a lurker on this site for a while and finally decided to register and contribute. I am the inventor of the Drop-n-Stay and am happy to announce we just bought the "Open Water" forum entry banner here which will take you directly to our site.

I am not here to pump our product but will answer questions if you have any.

Hot Tamale-Glad we were able to get one to you in time and am looking forward to your review on it.

This is an awesome site with a lot of great information.

As for the three lines, I would be bored out of my mind with only one rod. I have fished a few tournaments in MN and love the state but it is quite an adjustment using only one rod. I anchor a lot here and usually have two slip bobber and a jig pole going. 6 rods with two guys is no problem but 3 guys 9 poles ain't happening.

Anyway, good luck this season and stay safe!

Yes Scott, it shipped out already. We are swamped but I know this is prime time for some so we are trying our hardest to get the orders out the same day or the next day.

I am looking forward to hearing how you like the product after you get a chance to use it. Good luck and stay safe!

Rich it looks like a great product. One thing I'm wondering about is its durability.... Do u offer warranties on your product? I have a very spendy anchor system that includes a 50 lb anchor and 4 feet of heavy duty chain. All together it probably weighs about 60-70 pounds. I do have problem anchoring on occasion but only in "EXTREME" conditions. I mostly fish Mille Lacs during open water and to tell you the truth it just doesn't look like this thing would hack it..... I watched the videos on ur HSOforum but honestly how long do they last?

It looks like the rope I use on my anchor is thicker than that band?

Great question! There are hundreds of different types of shock cord available and I have tried most of them. The stuff we use now is the best we could find. All the cords are UV resistant and the heavy models are even salt water safe. The crimps I manufacture myself and are made from stainless steel. The Drop-n-Stay is made to be outside in the elements. I have guys that use the Dock-n-Stay all season long and have been for a few years now. Out of the thousands we have sold since '07 I have not heard of one failure. Obviously if you cut it or get a hook stuck in it that will shorten its life.

At this point if I had to guess I would say that with normal use they will last you about 7-10 years. Just a guess as they have not been around that long. I still have the original and still use it and other then a little dirt it looks and acts like new.

If you have problems, I will take care of you. I know you guys don't know me as well as the Wisconsin guys do but that is the way I am. If you buy one and try it and are unhappy I will give you a full refund. I have not had one person take me up on this. I have however had guys that had 17' boats buy the light and after using it thought the Medium might be better so I swapped them out for them. In that case you just pay the difference and shipping.

I know Mille Lacs get's rough, I have fished it before. It is very similar to Winnebago. My suggestion for you is the Deuce. We use the Deuce on my partners 620 Ranger in as rough as conditions as you can possibly fish in on Bago and the Deuce does the trick.

Not sure what else I can say. If it does not work for you I will take it back.

Great to see your here with us now Rich, your line will be well accepted by this group of dedicated fisherman.

I'm very fussy about what products I endorse, but I have high confidence in your line as you well know.

The UV friendly factor of your product line you just touched upon is just one of the key elements of your Drop-N-Stay system. Folks may try to improvise a "Bungee" to attempt to accomplish what you have invented and refined, but without the proper well tested materials and construction they are likely going to be very disseminated in there end results.

Or worse, by using substandard materials they are likely to find themselves getting hurt if the inadequate bungee snaps and pop's then in the OL' Snot-box...SNAP....BOINK....D'OH!

It is a great system, solves a major complication that frustrates many a fisherman. I highly recommend them.

I just ordered The Duece Light. I hope it works on my 175 Navigator.

I tried to "make this at home" and it snapped on the first wave. Luckily nobody got hurt. Glad to be getting a professionally built model. Will be worth the money I'm sure!

Matt,

I don't want to take anything away from the "do-it-yourself'ers" out there because I am one of them. With that being said I just want people to understand that the cords we use are not something you will find at a hardware store. These are marine grade with roughly 10 times the strength of a "bungee" cord.

The problem is that using a cord of this strength requires special crimps because a Hog Ring WILL NOT WORK!!! This is a saftey issue and hence the reason I had to design and manufacture my own custom Stainless Steel crimps. We have done countless strength tests to get this right and I am very pleased with the results.

The cord and crimps are very expensive but you get what you pay for and I want to provide a quality product for my fellow fishermen.

Matt you got the right model for that boat. Keep me posted on how it works for you. Force yourself to try using a much shorter amount of rope. You will be amazed.

Tamale-read your gracious review. Glad it worked well but pics of fish are always nice too!

Ed-Thanks for the nice words. It is a true testament to the product when you stand behind it.

rich,

You are welcome. I would love to have given you pictures of fish, however, we are not sure what happened to the camera. we thought it was still in the boat and now cannot find it. I looked under the toe kicks and counsel, but there may be other places it is hiding.

I do fear that with the heavy waves we were hitting as we went in, it may have jumped off of the counsel and into the big drink we call Lake Winnebago.

This will have been the 2nd one in two years. I will however have a pic for you shortly as I will be going up to the Chippewa Flowage for the season opener.

That is another body of water that can get pretty rough in a short period of time. So no more worries for me since I now have a Drop N Stay. I can fish all day-any day if I want to.
