Bear Head state park?

I have made a reservation at Bear Head for the middle of august! I know a big attraction to this park is making a trip over to the Soudan mine and doing the tour. I will be bringing my boat and looking for FM'ers experiences fishing on bear head lake and the surrounding areas. Any other info or things to do while I'm there would be great.

U were wondering about boat in sites this park has that too. Goto ely and spend the day there. wolf center is cool>

I stayed at Bear Head SP late last summer (August) and first off it was a real nice simple park. I was tent camping alone and it was nice a quiet and a relaxing time. I recommend hitting up the Wolf Center just east of Ely, Dorthy Molter Museum (Root beer Lady). The Bear center just west of Ely on the south side of 169 is and ok place. For personal reasons mainly due to research techniques I am not a fan of Lyn Rogers but still a nice place with lots of interesting facts.

Also I recommend especially if you are into sight seeing drive the echo trail north out of Ely up to Crane Lake and also the tomahawk trail east of Ely. Both great roads to look for Moose and the occasional Wolf. Good luck and Have Fun!!
