Trolling motor batteries

I wonder if most marine starting batteries might be dual-purpose but can't say for sure. Otherwise, there may not be any difference at all but I can't say for sure.

I did a quick search and the information I found seems to suggest as I suspected. Marine batteries are basically dual-purpose batteries. They have characteristics of both deep-cycle and starting batteries. Kinf of a middle-of-the-road battery.

Yes it will have a reserve capacity greater than a plain starting battery but not the capacity of a deep-cycle battery. It will also be capable of delivering decent cranking amps better than a deep cycle.

I bit the bullet and bought Blue Top Optima's 3 years ago and I'm going on my 4th year. Not one issue - ever.

I had Trojan's but I needed to replace them each year because in the fall they wouldn't last more than a couple hours after being used and abused all season.

After 3 years I'm finally ahead $100.
