Boat dock leveler doohickey

Brian Gilbertson

Question

I am looking for a deal I saw awhile back. Basically one end is a winch and it slips over a dock post. On the other end of the cable is a hook that catches the bottom of the dock so that you can raise and lower that section of the dock without getting in the water. Does anyone know where to find one of these gadgets?

I would go to a trucking co. and try to get some of there used ratching strap type load binders that they don;t use, take out the nylon strap and put in a short cable with a hook on one end of the cable,or just shorten the strap.

I see how that thing works, but it doesn't seem like the greatest idea.

Does one person push on the handle while another loosens the set bolt?

Are you not only holding the weight of the dock but also the weight of both those people?

Lightning, Look at the WD-75. There is a tube that slides over the dock post with a winch and a short cable. You place it on the post, hook the cable on the dock bracket, snug it up, then loosen the bolt, winch it up and re-tighten the bolt. Repeat on the other side, back and forth until the section is where you want it. It's easy to do with one person, I used to do it several times each year on the 4 docks we had. Lowering works the same way.

That makes a lot more sense than the one with the lever handle.
