I'll be hunting the Southern part of Zone 3 Season 3. I have a nice flock of 30 birds in my main area now that has two big toms in it. I'm hoping they stay close when they split, we'll see what happens. Good Luck to everyone!!!

Anyone got an idea for our Team Name??

Cut This

TomTom

Struturstuff

purrfect

Throw out some ideas.

I'm fortunate to be able to hunting 3 states again this spring. First is Iowa Zone 8 (Northern Area) April 12-15. Second is Nebraska for Merriams in the Northwest corner of Nebraska April 21-25. Third will be in Mn May 4-8 in Zone 339.

I will be helping a couple of first timers, which should be exciting too.

I will try and think of a couple names, but I like Purrfect.

No scouting but the guy who owns the land has been out daily. I'm so busy with work right now, I'm having a hard time justifying taking next week off. I'll be down there Wed afternoon put them to bed and hopefully be plucking by 9am Thursday.

Just talked the the landowner today, TURKEY'S F'N EVERYWHERE! was his exact quote. Can't wait till Wed. Said he drove into where we camp for the week and there were 4 toms strutted up right there. Seems promising.

Did some youth hunting with the boy this past weekend. Man that was some tough hunting. Had a solid group of 3 nice toms that were very responsive to calls, came in twice but the 30 hens overtook our area everytime not allowing a shot. Never hunted this early so that took me by surprise. Was good experience for the kid and myself, can't wait for the season to begin.

My season started in Iowa today. We got nestled in my blind aound 5. About 545, the Toms started to sound off and not from my tree yelping either. A storm was rolling in with thunder, lightning and rain. If it wasn't for my blind we wouldn't have lasted very long. It pretty much rained until 3

We heard a couple of gobbles after light, but it was hard to hear anything because of the rain beating on the blind.

Around 730 we saw one hen, but she stayed about 60 yards or so away.

Around 900 3 hens came in and milled around the decoys.

Finally at 11:15 3 Toms made there way into the decoys, but the birds were too close together to shoot without risking hitting more than one. Just when the birds started to separate, another Tom came out of the woods about 50 yards away and gobbled. Which sent the 3, running over to bigger tom. The 3 started fighting with the loner and ran him off. The Toms started to work back to the decoys in their tight formation again. We thought that we lost are opportunity already, when the other tom came in the picture. So I told my cousin, if one steps off to the side take him. It wasn't long after that, one stepped out and bang. My cousin ends up with his first Tom. I was hopeing for the others to spread out after his shot, but they didn't.

I was surprised that the toms didn't mess with my jake decoy, I think they went after the other tom again.

His first Tom 8"beard, 5/8 spurs, 19 pds. another one addicted to turkey hunting now

I will give it another try on Wednesday and that will be it for Iowa.

Got my first gobbler last night. Windy conditions made for poor calling/responding results. I knew where the birds were roosting so set up to intercept and it worked!

9 inch beard

1" spur

20 lbs 9oz.

I'll post the pictures later.

Congrats setterguy Nice bird!

I went back to Iowa on Wednesday only until 1030 am. I didn't hunt as much as I would have liked, do to work. I saw 1 Tom and three hens. It was very windy down there to.

I leave for Nebraska on Tuesday afternoon until Sunday. Hopefully I will have some good results to post.

Yup it was pretty sweet, we went 3 for 3 in two days of hunting. First guy had them fly down to within 15 yards of him and had to hold the gun up for 20 minutes till legal shooting time.

Guy two was walking back to camp and peeked over a hill and there was a gobbler, a real nice one 11" beard over 1" spurs. It was his 4th or 5th bird so he wasn't too crazy excited.

Then me having to ambush them on their way to bed, none of them happened like on the shows but we all got meat in the freezer. Good luck guys!

Well, i'm having a rough season. From the talk around the woods, it seemed that the toms were going to be still single this week. Not the case...I currently have 2 groups of 3 toms in which they both are henned up already. Had 1 group come last night to about 70yds, things were going good, then the hen decided to change direction in which they followed. So I roosted them and set up my plan for this morning. Ha! I got two calls from the hen and that was it, sat all morning with no sightings, so I have no idea where they disappeared too. Figured I had two options, call the hen, or put on an interception route. Neither worked today. Totally frustrating but still fun trying to get the best of them. Hoping to get out again if this weather cooperates....Good Luck!!

Hey guys, My Nebraska trip was awesome, except the two days of pouring rain. Needless to say, we managed to get are birds.

I'd like to give a more detailed summary of my trip, but I have been lacking free time.

My first bird was a Merriam 21pds 2oz, 15/16 spurs and 7.5 in beard,

my second bird was a hybred 8 in beard and 1 in spurs, my third bird was a hybred 8 in beard, half in spurs, 18.5 pds all in 3 days.

My brother and cousin also harvested each one Merriam and one hybred.

My Mn hunt is coming soon. I drove by one of my spots this morning. There one was strutting and gobbling at his hens. I'm going to bring the bow out for the first couple days. I think that would be amazing to get one with the bow.

I'm hoping to post the pictures by Saturday. Good Luck Everybody

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
