zzammon
It's maple surup time. Maple trees are sucking up sap and silver maples are budding. At least in the Mankato area. Depending on what "pruning" is, I would wait till fall bfore pulling out the chainsaw. I don't know about linden.
Powerstroke
Maples and lindens can be pruned any time of year. You are more than safe to do them now. Do not be alarmed by the sap coming out of the tree. It doesn't cause any hard to the tree. Its more important to make proper pruning cuts so try to make you cut even with the branch collar. That is the small bulging ring where the branch grows form the truck. This will heal the tree heal faster. Do not cut flush with the trunk. We are pretty much done with pruning oaks and elms until fall.
LwnmwnMan2
................. We are pretty much done with pruning oaks and elms until fall. Unless your neighbor has 40 dead oaks surrounding the house, which have been dead for 3+ years and have started to fall over because of the wind. THEN it's a mad dash to get the rest of these down.
