Swimbait2009
We're thinking of reducing the size of our garbage can from our garbage service. Does anyone know what it costs to bring garbage to a dump? We usually don't have much garbage, but occasionally we'll probably end up with more than a full can and would like to be able to handle that conveniently. Also, not sure if our garbage service sells "extra bag" stickers...we use Aspen Waste Systems.
LwnmwnMan2
It all depends on the location. We have a transfer station locally that's 3x's the cost if we go 20 miles from here.I know if you're in St. Paul, I'd call Waste Management. Usually they have days where they have a community cleanup or whatever. Or at least they used to.
LightningBG
Might want to check on the cost savings of getting a smaller one. One of my previous houses it was like $20/mo for the biggest, $18/mo for the smallest. The major cost is the time it takes to come get it, not the amount of trash you have.Unless of course you're just looking to free up some garage space. As for the dump, cant help there, if I have a bunch extra I just hold it until the next week.
heavyduty
In a small county in southern MN I pay 4 bucks a bag.So I buy 55 gallon drum liners at the hardware store for about the same price as normal heavyduty bags.thats a lot of trash. hoggs222
Talk to your neighbors on the "extra" weeks and ask them if it's OK to use there can. I do this from time to time, as the neighbor across the street is never home and doesn't ever fill up his garbage cans.
SFC
Was just checking rates last week. Switching to a smaller container was only going to save 1 dollar. My hauler matched the competitors price $7 savings per month plus 4 free months.
