slammer
I have a 99 150 EFI Merc and been running Mercury oil in it since day one. Plan on switching to Amsoil after hearing how good it is from all of you here. Do I get the Sabre or somthing else? I know they make oil for a lot of applications so just want the right one. Plan on using all old oil first and not mixing old and new.
Steve Foss
Amsoil makes a Saber designed specifically for outboards. That's the one you want. I've been using it for several years at 75:1 and really like it. I'm not quite gutsy enough to run it at 100:1 like Amsoil calls for. I run Saber Professional (non-outboard) at 50:1 in my chainsaws, too. When I ran a gas operated auger I ran Saber at 50:1. I also run Amsoil injector oil in my snowmobile. marine_man
I'm not sure which variety of amsoil you'll need for your motor.. but I'm pretty sure theres a specific one for motors that have oil injection in it.marine_man
theoilman
For your efi oil injected outboard use AMSOIL HP Injector. The Saber Outboard is for pre-mix outboards ONLY!To change brands to AMSOIL, run the current oil down until you get to the bell/low oil warning and just fill the tank with HP Injector. AMSOIL will mix with other oils but it is better to minimize the mixing, and never take a chance of running out of oil. (Most outboards it is very difficult or very sloppy to try to drain the oil tank.)

Larson15
I would stick to Mercury Premium Plus. If you do decide to go and use Amsoil, DO NOT MIX with what is in there. Make sure the old oil is completely out of the system.
