Home Loan modification issues - attorney needed

Wish-I-Were-Fishn

Question

Is there an attorney that would deal with home loan modification issues with Citi Mortgage?

We have been making payments according to their schedule since Aug 2009 and in spite of this nothing is going forward in the process.

We applied for a home mortgage modification loan last June. They (Citi Mortgage)are dragging out the process and destroying our credit in the process.

Frankly, you're probably going to pour more good money into a bad outcome. You'll pay an Atty. for hours of work to negotiate a Zero-sum game.

I have a close friend who is in your situation and has paid a lot for his Atty. "help" and he's in no better shape with his Mortage Bank today than he was a year ago. He IS a lot poorer, however and the bank is foreclosing on his home next month even after paying his mortgage per the arrangement his Atty. establisahed with the bank. The bank even raised his payment by a grand with no warning or care fortheir predicament.

The bank has profited all this past year to re-coup some of their principle, but in the end, they're still foreclosing and that really rots.

I would't pay the bank a penny more. You have by law a full year to live rent free in your current home after the Sheriff's sale. Save your money for rent or whatever you need. Don't let anyone talk you into a short sale either. The banks are sueing people now even after the short sales, because they have deeper pockets than you and they have our money thanks to 1600 Penn. with which to screw us further.

I'm not proud of it but I did what chef is recommending, only my trouble was with american home mortgage, I can't tell you how many fustrating hours/days I spent on the phone and faxing and mailing and certified because they supposedly kept misplaceing all the documents. No matter how much you love your home as I did, I finally realized It's just a structure and only a small part of my life, Totally not worth that kind of stress, the bank is going to lose the most in the end and if they don't care about you why should you care about them. Here is my case I bought a new town home for 201K that included the closing costs the bank sold it last week for 135K that included c costs, of course the lender would have been much better off dealing with me, why they didn't is beyond me, my payments were on time all the time, go figure, (I moved 6 doors down and rent almost 500 a month less) I don't understand their logic but I don't have to, their the ones that will lose, I'm sure our tax dollars have helped them immensely during the bank bail outs. The reality of it all is were just the little guy and we really don't have the control that we think that we have. You could call the attorney general and see what you can find out but when i did their hands were tied. My best friend is dealing with Citi right now and has been for the last year steadily getting nowhere they keep changing their own rules and he's continually sending all the documents he has previously sent. If you want to know more just ask and I'll tell.
