Favorite Largemouth lake close to Fargo

I live in Fargo and I love fishing MN for largemouth bass, (as there is only one lake in ND close.) I normally fish Boyer or Pomme de terre. My mom lives on the lake.

I have been in the lake finder on MN DNR and there are quite a few more lakes around that look like they hold good numbers of bass. I don't want to fish huge lakes because I only have a 12' boat with a 4 h.p. on back.

Pearl looks pretty good. I see there were a couple that have slot limits on bass, I am a 99% catch and release with the exception of one on my wall.

So I am just looking for some more options with good fishing, not any secret spots. Thanks guys

Hiya -

I grew up in the Pelican Rapids area, and still have a cabin there, so I'm fishing that area 3 of 4 weekends all season.

In all honesty, you can almost pick a lake at random around there and have a decent day of bass fishing more often than not. The bass fishing in the PR/DL/Fergus Falls area can be tremendous. You also have a lot of options depending on what your preferred fishing style is, from shallow slop to deep weedlines.

What I'd do if I were you is make a short list of lakes based on some research just like you've done, and go try them out. If you have a full day you can try a couple lakes in the same day. You'll have a blast and find some great lakes.

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

hey bassnbucks, if you got some free time once bass season opens up, shoot me an email, [email protected], we can go out and I'll let you in a couple of fun lakes, not much in wall mounters but some fun lakes none the less, I can even provide a bigger boat, don't really need it though. oh and I to have a couple lakes on my list that I have not tried, but will be giving a shot this summer, 2 lines are always better than one!

Like RK said alot of the lakes in the DL/ ottertail region have great bass fishing. Have a cabin by perham and fished alot of the lakes around there at random on the shallow docks and such and have done really well.
