0 riverrat56
It's very similar in price to all the other Fireline, put some cheap backing under it on the reel to get the proper fill on the spool and you'll be fine. You still get 125yds, that should be more than you'll ever need. The line itself is exactly like regular Fireline. That said, I would just spend the extra cash for a line counter reel. Tracer will do the job, espeically if you want to use one set up for casting and trolling. However, it is kind of a hassel to count every color change, much easier to open the bait on the line counter reel and put it in the holder, then click it closed when the right amount of line out is reached. 0 gunflint
I realized after I posted the question that I was more interested in the "braid" aspect than the tracer part of it. To late anyway. I found some FireLine braid that was priced a little lower than normal and it's already spooled on my bottom bouncer reel. If I remember I'll give a report on it in the fall. To be honest it looks very close to Power Pro. If it acts like Power Pro without any noticeable difference I'll buy Power Pro from now on as it's about 3 or 4 dollars a spool cheaper. 0 reddog
The object of Tracer is not for counting feet, although that is an advertised side benefit. The main use for tracer is for jig fishermen who like to watch/see the line on the retrieve. The high vis sections show up very well above the water and the dark section is for tieing your jig onto like an integral leader. When you need to retie, you simply cut off 60" (30 dark and 30 high vis) to leave you with a new 30 inch section of dark line again.I used it for the last week, and was impressed initially. I like to watch my line when running a jig, and it worked great for that..... for 2 days, then the dark sections started to turn high vis also. I am going to make the assumption that the dark sections are actualy dyed high vis and the dye was wearing out.
