I have been lookin at a cuda 300 from reeds for 69.00$ are they a peice of junk??? the price sure is right. Just want something that shows me the structure and the depth. What does the x96 have that makes it a better finder?????

never had one issue with my 242, so I would assume the 300 would be just as reliable.

I'm parcial to Lawrance I'd say nad up that X96 it's a pretty good deal. That said, go somewhere at you can mess around with them and see whats more user friendly for you.

If you go to the Lowrance web site, you can download a product emulator and see how you like the controls. It is a virtual depthfinder that operates just like trhe real thing, except it exits only in your pc.

ive got a humminbird 160 portable i got for canada on our fly in, i bought it last fall at GM for right around $100 i like it so far havent used it to much but it held up good on the plane rides and getting tossed around in a boat, nothing fancy but its nice to see depth and structure
