I was looking at the new X Factor rods today at Gander and looked like a nice rod for the money .I was talking to a employee and he said these rods are made from St. Croix rod blanks is there any truth to this? They do have a nice feel to them and i was thinking on buying one.

My first impulse would be to say no they are not. Yet I would have to research it more to be certain. It is not easy to tell by the vendor many times. Blanks may be made by one company and the rod is assembled elsewhere too? My inclination is to say it is not a St. Croix jobbered product.

I believe the biggest clue to who made the rods is in the Reels made to match the rods. Ardent or Pflueger?

I suspect it came from the Pflueger vendor line.

Riverrat, I don't know who made the rods. But you are right. I got to play with a couple of them when working the Gander stores for Strike King this past weekend. They are nice stix's for the money.

Yes, the Triumph is an off shore rod, but when one is comparing another rod to a St. Croix it's highly doubtfull that they are comparing it to the Triumph line. More likely they are comparing it to the Legend Tournement and up lines.
