lawdog
I put this in home improvement too, but maybe it should go here?!?...I am wondering how bad of a situation I have as my snowpiles are huge and I had no choice but to put one right on the drainfield and another just off the end of it. Is it going to be way too much moisture there when all this darn snow finally melts?! Do I need to think about trying to move some of this snow (not sure if I have a place to put it anyway, but I could try...).
Fredd
I would think that the snow will be melting long before the frost comes out. Thus it will run off versus saturate the ground. Just my two cents.
BobT
I think I can understand lawdog's question though. There's a good chance the septic drain field may not be frozen. The activity from the bacteria generates heat and that is why septic systems don't freeze up in winter except under the harshest conditions. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with this problem so I can't offer any concrete advise. Your drain field can only handle so much liquid over a period of time. You might have a valid consideration.
Nutty Fisherman
If your drain field is not in a hollow you will be ok. It's not going to melt all at once, so you won't have a flood of water going in the drain field.Hope this answers your question
WaveWacker
I'd try to move as much of it off as you can. Sounds like that isn't an easy task however so do what you can.
LwnmwnMan2
If we keep the slow melt we have currently, and looks like it's going to stay that way, you should be okay.
klecker
I heard theat we have like 4-6" of water in the snow we have. If it takes a month to melt off not, that would be like getting that in rain. I agree you should be fine.
