was out riding tonight all was fine, until I put fuel in then the lights and hand warmers wuold not work. rode it home and every so often the lights would come on then they would go out.

looked at all the wires and conntors all seems good, what do you think it could be? its a 1995 polaris 500 carb. thanks for your imput.

voltage regulator or stator. just bought a new stator in a 99 550 SuperSport and it was $395 dollars. a new voltage regulator through dnskrk is around $20

I had the same issue with my 95 440 a few years ago, put in a new voltage Reg, and it was fine. Try that first since it is the cheapest. The Volt Reg, is right behind the cover by the pull rope on the inside of the hood!

I have heard mixed results about the aftermarket voltage regs, I spent the money and got the factory one so as not to create anymore issues in using and aftermarket.

Happened to my 98 last year. Opened up the hood and felt bthe reg. and replaced it. Hot reg doesnt cut it. Ordered it from kirks that afternoon and running the next nite.
