Hitchcock, Redfield area

Wondering if anyone has some tips on where to stay in this area. Also how much public land is around there? Would I be better off in the Huron area? I believe ditch hunting is ok in SD. What are the rules on this? Thanks

there a few areas up there, but I would check with the sdgfp site and look at the walk in area maps

I am very familiar with the huron areas, I have to say you will yield better results on the areas further away from the city so to speak. there is lots of public land north and north west of huron that I usually do pretty well on.

you can choose to road hunt if you feel needed. i personally prefer not to do it because it usually doesnt involve dog work. between me and my 2 dogs, I usually dont have any issues limiting out on birds when I hunt the public land in that area.

Ditch hunting and road hunting are not even remotely similar. SoDak prints in their handbook very clearly how one can legally hunt ditches.

That is not a bad area, but as others have said, you will find more public land to the west and northwest of Redfield...even west/northwest of Aberdeen.
